How WoofSpots Works

Google helps you find a daycare.
WoofSpots helps you decide.

The nation's dog-daycare directory built for trust — clear signals, honest labels, and a network that helps return lost dogs to their families.

What WoofSpots is

WoofSpots is a nationwide directory of dog daycares, boarding facilities, and pet-care businesses across all 50 states and DC. You search a city or ZIP; we show you every facility in range with ratings, reviews, photos, and clear signals of what's been confirmed by the owner.

What "Verified" means — and what it doesn't

We hold "Verified" to a deliberately narrow bar so the word actually means something. A listing is Owner-Verified only when the person managing it has confirmed their business email via a magic link. That's the whole bar — honest, verifiable, and non-manipulable.

What Verified means

The person managing this listing has access to the facility's business email. Contact info and hours have been reviewed by a real person. If something changes, the owner can update it.

What Verified doesn't mean

Not an endorsement of quality. Not an editorial recommendation. Not something a facility can pay to buy. Not a substitute for reading reviews or visiting in person.

How the directory stays current

Periodic re-scraping

We re-check each listing against public business data to catch closures and moves.

Owner claims

Facility owners can "claim" their listing and edit their own info — hours, photos, description, response policies.

Visitor reports

Any visitor can flag a bad or out-of-date listing from the page. Reports feed a review queue so we can pull dead listings quickly.

How customers book

Two paths depending on whether the daycare has enabled online bookings with us:

Booking-enabled daycares

Pick dates, pay with a card, the daycare confirms and gets notified instantly. Stripe splits the money automatically — daycare gets 88%, we get 12%. Cancellation and refund policy set by the daycare.

Directory-only daycares

We show phone, website, address, and reviews. You contact the daycare directly — no fee, no middleman. Most listings work this way today.

SafePaws — the lost-dog network

When a claimed daycare opts into SafePaws, they join a free alert network for their city. If a pet parent reports a dog missing nearby, participating daycares get an instant alert with a photo. Daycares have scanners, fences, and eyes on incoming dogs every day — the network turns that reach into real safety infrastructure.

Free for daycares, free for pet parents. Opt in from the dashboard, opt out any time. The first few dozen daycares in each city become that city's founding safety net.

Emails you'll get from us

Monthly consumer newsletter

One email a month. A dog care tip, a training tip, a featured story, and a community spotlight — every factual claim cited to AVMA, ASPCA, AKC, or peer-reviewed veterinary research. No filler. Unsubscribe link on every send.

SafePaws alerts (opt-in only)

If you're a daycare on the network, you get an instant alert when a dog goes missing near you. Nobody else.

How we make money

Two revenue streams, both structured to keep the trust bar honest:

1. Booking fees (12%)

When a customer books through our checkout, Stripe splits the payment: 88% to the daycare, 12% to us. Only applies to WoofSpots-referred bookings — your existing regulars still book with you direct, fee-free.

2. Premium listings

Verified Dog ($39/mo) unlocks public contact info + 10-photo gallery + Owner-Verified badge. Top Dog ($99/mo) adds a 20-photo gallery + unlimited offers + a clearly-labeled Promoted card in search.

What we don't sell: search ranking. Results are ordered by rating, proximity, and review recency for every listing — paid or not. Promoted cards appear separately and are labeled. Editorial content (newsletter, featured stories) is never for sale. Trust isn't a line item.
